Sallie Stephenson Farrell

1961 - 1972

Sallie was born on February 5, 1961. She was a student at Peebles Elementary School at the time of her death.

Sallie loved skating on the neighborhood bog in the winter and swimming in Buttermilk Bay in the summer. She enjoyed playing with her best friend and cousin, Jeanette Fougere. She also enjoyed time with her three older brothers, Chris, Scott and Jay.

Sallie was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Farrell of Buzzards Bay and the grand-daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. Samuel Stephenson. "Father Steve" built St. Peter's Church on the Canal.

Two days before her final surgery, Sallie's picture was taken at Children's Hospital in Boston with "Buttons the Clown" from Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus. The photo that appears above was picked up by the A.P. Wire and was printed in papers all over the world. Her parents received copies of the picture from as far away as Germany and Australia, as well as many cities in the United States and Canada.
